JoAnn's Obituary
JoAnn Soergel, 73, of South Haven, passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at the Upjohn Community Care Center in Kalamazoo. JoAnn was born July 24, 1941 to Glenn and Myrtle (Carter) Page in South Haven. JoAnn married Loren Soergel on August 6, 1960 in South Haven. She provided a day care service out of her home for over twenty years. JoAnn loved to garden, watch sports, and loved animals. Her favorite hobby was spending time with her grandkids. JoAnn was a member of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church of South Haven. She loved her family very much.
She is preceded in death along with her parents by her husband of 39 years – Loren.
JoAnn is survived by her children – Tim (Becky) Soergel of Sturgis, Debra (Joseph) Carley of Wixom, MI, and Christine Eckrich of Kalamazoo; two sisters – Virginia Schnooberger and Mary Bodfish both of South Haven; seven grandchildren – Steven, Michael, and Christopher Carley, Joanna and David Eckrich, Loren Dalton and Dawson Soergel.
A visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM on Friday, November 14, 2014 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home of South Haven. A private family service will follow visitation with Pastor Travis Wilson officiating. JoAnn will be laid to rest at the Lakeview Cemetery in South Haven. Contributions may be made in JoAnn’s memory to the Al-Van Human Society.
