Tom's Obituary
Tom Watson, 56, of South Haven, passed away while running in one of his favorite places on the South Pier, Monday, December 15, 2014. He was born September 1, 1958 to Alfred and Sally (Coveyou) Watson in Grand Rapids. Tom graduated from South Haven High School in 1976, obtained his Bachelor’s degree from Ferris State University in 1980 – where he belonged to the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. He later earned his Master’s Degree from Western Michigan University in 2006. Tom worked at Palisades Nuclear Plant for the past thirty years. Tom enjoyed running, golfing and was a coin collector. He enjoyed watching and coaching his children’s sports. Tom was a fan of the Detroit Lions, Tigers, Redwings, and Pistons.
He is preceded in death by his father – Alfred Watson and brother – John Watson.
Tom is survived by his mother – Sally Watson of South Haven; children – Andrea of Kalamazoo, David of Madison, WI, and Krista Watson of Bangor who attends Albion College; former spouse and mother of his children – Renee Watson of Bangor; siblings – Al (Diane) Watson of Ft. Thomas, KY, Mary (Neal) Wilkinson of Orchard Park, NY; sister-in-law - Kathy Watson of Kenai AK; nephews –Ben Watson, Cole Wilkinson, Justin Powers, Andrew Conrad, and Justin Henske,; nieces – Catherine and Renetta Watson, Natalie Wilkinson, Wendy Eads, and Jessica Ralyn; aunt and uncle – Patsy and Bill Switzer of Plainwell; and close friend – Beca Gordon.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, December 19, 2014 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home of South Haven. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at St. Basil Catholic Church with Rev. Father Robert Flickinger officiating.
