Barbara's Obituary

Barbara A. Arends, 76, of Glenn, passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2014 at her home under Hospice care. She was born February 9, 1938 to James and Frances (Niffenegger) Steele in South Haven. She married John Arends on January 27, 1977. Barb managed a convenience store in Glenn for many years. Both Barb and John enjoyed gardening and selling apples in the fall. She also enjoyed spending time with her dear dog, Maggie. The two of them spent many hours riding around the farm on her golf car. If Barb had company over when it was time for one of Maggie’s runs, she would be sure to invite them along. Even though Barb didn’t travel far from her home, she had many close friends and neighbors that she would visit with. She always had a smile to share or story to tell.

She is preceded in death along with her parents by her husband – John Arends and son – James Bodfish.

Barbara is survived by her children – Marsha (Will) Lewis of Holland, Greg (Shelley) Bodfish both of South Haven and daughter-in-law – Michele Bodfish of Alabama; three grandchildren – Greg, Dustin (Alexis), and Perry (Reanna) Bodfish; three sisters – Janet (Cortland) Hillman of Caro, MI, Nancy Asche of South Haven, and Linda (Richard) Henry of Bangor; great grand daughter - Elliott.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, December 29, 2014 and from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home of South Haven. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at the funeral home with Pastor Harold Filbrandt officiating. Barbara will be laid to rest in McDowell Cemetery in Casco Township. Contributions may be made in Barbara’s memory to South Haven’s Hospice at Home or to your favorite charity.
