To the Arends/Steele Family; so sorry for the loss of your Mother/Sister. I worked with Jim Steele at S.E.Overton Company and became acquainted with Barb that way. Barb & I had the same Red l989 GMC Vehicle and we both grocery shopped, it seems, on the same day at D & W Grocery Store; on one particular shopping day, Barb checked out sooner than I did and when I got outside, I realized that she was trying to get into my Red l989 GMC Vehicle; when I approached her, I told her that was my GMC - we laughed for hours about that; and when we met again at D & W, we always made sure where each of us parked!

Sorry to lose such a great person, and good neighbor! I am out of town and cannot get back in time for the visitation and funeral. I will be keeping you all in my thoughts, and at the ready if there's anything I can help with once I'm back in Glenn later this week.

Marsha and Greg,
I am so osrry to hear of your mom's passing. Richard and Gerry just told me. Barb was such a special lady and friend. She was such a big part of my life growing up. And later I could see her once every 5 years and we always just picked right where we left off. She brought sunshine wherever she went and always put a smile on my face. She will be missed by all. She did a wonderful job raising both of you. May God be with you in this time of sorrow. All my love, Sara French Gumpert

It is painful for me to write this message. Barbara was a favorite cousin and I enjoyed being with her while visiting South Haven with my parents. I have many pleasant memories associated with the Steele family especially the times spent at the beach. While I had not seen Barbara during the last two years, we talked frequently via the telephone. In October she did not reveal the results of her tests to me. She was a brave woman during her illness. I shall miss her.
