I worked with Dorothy and Bill in the law office and Dorothy was probably the most pleasant, kindest woman I ever knew. She was my idea of the "ideal" woman. Prayers and blessings to Chris and Mike and their families.

Chris & Mike your mother was an inspiration to the neighborhood and the church. She was a friendly smile and we enjoyed some time with her and your Dad down in Sebastian Florida on different occasions. She is with God now and at peace. I wish your family's that same peace during these sad times.

Chris and Mike - what great memories I have of your mom, my mom and all the "Basil Belles". They were an inspiration to us all and showed us how to worship, share and be good friends. You mom was especially special. I never saw her when she didn't look 100% beautiful. I know she is now in good company and when she says "Good Morning Lord" He will be there! Peace.

Chris, Mike and family, your Mother was a warm endearing lovely woman who has left a legacy in her own right. I fondly recall the golf outings of our families and the great laughter that enveloped every occasion when the whole "gang" was together. Our prayers are for comfort and strength during this very difficult time.

We mailed a note to Dorothy this morning not knowing of her passing. It mentioned sending a smile. Dorothy's smile is what I will remember. She was so gracious and genuine in her interest about our family and so proud (rightly so) of her own. She shared with me what the grandchildren were up to, knowing that I had taught the St.Basil ones. She and Bill held neighborhood Christmas gatherings several times - welcoming and kind always. We were so glad to have Verdonks as neighbors and will miss Dorothy and her smile and friendly hello.

Mike and Chris: I am so, so sad to hear of the passing of your mother. She was beautiful and graceful - both in body and spirit. She was one of the kindest people I've met. Praying for you and your families at this time.

Mike, Chris and all the Verdonk family, our sincere sympathy in the passing of your mom, grandmother and friend. Your mom was just very special, so sincere, warm ad always engaging. I hold her in the highest esteem. It is indeed sad as we say goodbye to all these wonderful parents from that great generation. We know she is home with her Lord and savior and all her family especially Bill, she truly left her imprint here as a better place for all. Peace in the grace of God. Jim and Beth Horan

As I've already expressed to you, Chris, your mom was one of the loveliest, dearest women I have ever known. Since I had known her almost as long as my own mother, how ironic that she should pass away on the 5th anniversary of my mom's death. The St. Basil Belles are back together again! My sympathy is with all of your family, but with the faith that you all have, I know you are celebrating her "homecoming".

My condolences to the family of Dorothy. My daughter, Sylvia cherished her mother-in law, I too enjoyed Dorothy's company during my frequent visits in South Haven. Meeting for Thanksgiving dinners at her lovely home, or having a cup of coffee downtown for our privat chats. I will miss Dorothy so very much. Rest in peace dear friend

Chris, Mike, and family...
So sorry for this news and your sadness because of it. But our moms are our conscience and we "hear" their voices forever, so they are always with us.
It is also sad whenever we lose another of the main ladies or men from the South Haven Golf Club, where we spent our youth surrounded by such terrific, warm, thoughtful, fun role models. What a great childhood they gave us...and beyond. Each happily lingers within us forever.
Gold bless you all.

Dear Chris, Mike, and family, I am so sad to hear about your Mom's death. She was such a genuinely warm and gentle woman. A hug from her could make my day!! I pray that you find comfort in knowing that she and your dad are together again. I am sure the Basil Belles that passed ahead of her were glad to welcome her to heaven. My thoughts and prayers are with you all! Fondly, Julie Kowieski Todd

Chris and Mike and all other Verdonks, Dottie was a special lady. Being a cup minister into her final years should be an inspiration to us all. The last words she said to me were at Mass (of course). She gave a pained look and asked why I never became a cantor at church. So, if you EVER see me cantor, you can credit Dottie for the push.

Dot was one of my patients at SHHS. What a great, lovely, loving woman. I already miss her. She was a true "Lady" and heaven is so much better with her there. I hope that time eases your pain and your memories of her always peaceful.
