Bette Ione Allers

Bette Ione Allers, 81, of South Haven, passed away Sunday, November 22, 2015 at the Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. She was born April 5, 1934 to Edward and Bessie (Youngblood) Henry in South Haven. Bette worked at the Soda Fountain at MacDonald Drugs in South Haven through high school. She graduated from South Haven High School in 1952. Two years later, Bette married David Allers on February 12, 1954 in South Haven. Bette worked at MacKenzie’s Bakery before working in the Reading Resource Room at Lincoln Elementary School in South Haven. Bette was a member of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church where she was active in the Kids Hope program and held a monumental role in the Pricilla Circle. Bette also enjoyed bowling and tending to her flower garden.  Bette loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.  Bette was an excellent baker and was known for her fruit pies and spaghetti.

She is preceded in death along with her parents by her brothers – Edward, William, Jim, Jack, Harold, and Neil Henry; and son-in-law – Kevin Kluskowski.

Bette is survived by her husband of 61 years – Dave Allers of South Haven; children – Kim Ameluxen, Brenda (Marc) Bertorelli, Tammi (Mark) Dibble, and Sandy Kluskowski all of South Haven; brother – Thomas (Cookie) Henry of South Haven; ten grandchildren – Emily Schreuers, Michael and Brian Ameluxen, K.C. Williams, Elizabeth and Jonah Bertorelli, Kristin and Nick Dibble, Alyson and David Kluskowski. Eleven great grandchildren also survive.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home of South Haven. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at the Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church in South Haven with Pastor Travis Wilson officiating. Bette will be laid to rest at Lakeview Cemetery in South Haven.
