Randall's Obituary
Randall Gary Adkin (66) of South Haven, Michigan passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, December 20th, 2015 at his home in Florida. Randy was born November 20th, 1949 in South Haven to Glenn and Marian (Lockner) Adkin. Randy was a South Haven High School graduate, Class of 1968 and attended Western Michigan University. He married Catherine J. Hamlin on August 12th, 1972 at Saint Basil Catholic Church. Randy was a lifelong farmer in Casco Township, who owned and operated Adkin Blue Ribbon Packing Company, which is home to the “World’s Finest Blueberries.”
Randy was an incredible businessman who truly enjoyed all aspects of his work. He will be remembered not only for his lively personality, but also for his limitless knowledge and quick wit. When Randy walked into a room full of strangers, his energy and presence would immediately draw their attention. By the end of the night, Randy would be friends with everyone in the room - knowing each one of them by their first name. He was larger than life, kind in spirit and generous at heart. Randy loved golf, fishing, motorcycles, collectible cars, sporting events, vacation adventures, jokes, aged cheese and dogs. He was a beloved husband, father, uncle, grandfather, friend, employer and leader who will be sincerely and immensely missed.
Randy is preceded in death by his parents, parent-in-laws Ward and Sue Hamlin, sister-in-law Mary Martelli and brother-in-law Nicholas Till. Randy is survived by his wife, Cathy Adkin. Children – Molly (Jeremy) Lasseigne of South Haven, Angie (Jonathan) Miot of Gainesville, Florida and Bartley (Laura) Adkin of South Haven. Grandchildren – Ethan Lasseigne, Alexander Miot and Elizabeth Johnson. Sisters – Laraine Fox of Berrien Springs, Michigan and Sherry Till of Grand Junction, Michigan.
A Celebration of Life Memorial open house will take place at the Laketown Golf and Conference Center in Saugatuck, Michigan on Sunday, January 10th, 2016 from 1 - 5 p.m. with Pastor Ralph Cunningham beginning the eulogy at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Randy’s honor to Seasons of Change Ministries in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Al-Van Humane Society in South Haven, or the South Haven Lighthouse Restoration Campaign.
