Carl G. Schlaack

Carl G. Schlaack, 93, of South Haven, passed away Monday, June 20, 2016 at the Countryside Nursing and Rehabilitation Community in South Haven. He was born April 1, 1923 to Merl and Nellie (Goodwin) Schlaack in South Haven. Carl married Evelyn Hinz on July 28, 1945 at the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in South Haven. He worked for National Motors as a Core Maker for 37 years until 1977. Following that he worked at B&K Machine in South Haven. He loved wood working and built wagons and trailers. He also farmed after hours raising Christmas Trees, pumpkins, pickles, and other vegetables.

He is preceded in death by three brothers -  Clinton, Marion “Bill”, and Charles Schlaack.

Carl is survived by his wife of 70 years – Evelyn Schlaack, children – Ron (Helen) Schlaack, Karla (Dick) Frazier, and Linda (Andy) Edge all of South Haven, sister – Lorraine Nielsen of South Haven, four grandchildren – Malinda (Andy) Rose, Richard Schlaack, Brenda (Elijah) Foley, and Amy (John) Filbrandt, five great grandchildren – Alexia Kreigh, Kaleb Filbrandt, Alexxa Rose, Katelyn and Noah Foley, and one great great grandchild – Tori Couturier.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in South Haven. Memorial services will follow visitation at 12:00 PM at the church with Pastor Stephen Daley officiating. Contributions may be made in Carl’s memory to St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church at 718 Arbor Court, South Haven, Michigan. Carl will be laid to rest at Chambers Cemetery in Geneva Township.
