Loyd Lavern Morgan

Loyd Lavern Morgan, 66, of South Haven, passed away Monday, November 14, 2016 at the Meadow Wood Nursing and Rehabilitation Community in Bloomingdale. He was born May 7, 1950 to JT and Bertha (Ligons) Morgan in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Loyd married Lela Hiatt on August 9, 1968 at the South Haven Assembly of God Church. He worked in sales selling insurance for Mutual of Omaha and auto sales. He also worked as a correctional officer at the Michigan State Prison in Jackson and Kalamazoo Correction Center. Loyd was proud to be a foster parent and taught classes on foster parenting. He later would drive for Senior Services and the Department of Human Services. He enjoyed playing board and card games and going out to watch the lake. He also enjoyed trying his luck with the lottery.

He is preceded in death along with his parents by his brother – Jim Morgan.

Loyd is survived by his wife Lela Morgan of South Haven, children – Angie (Al) Remick and Jennifer (Warren) Sistrunk both of South Haven, three granddaughters – Allie Remick, Miah and Trinity Sistrunk, three step grandchildren – Brandon, Josh, and Abbey Remick, siblings – Daronda (Ray) McMillen of Valier, Illinois, Gary (Donna) Morgan of South Haven, Lawanda (Pat) Cunningham of Malden, Missouri, Debbie (Ken) Hampton of Malden, Missouri, Wesley (Linda) Morgan of Malden, Missouri, Karen (Paul) Dover of Campbell, Missouri, and Leon (Debbie) Morgan of Campbell, Missouri, sister-in-law – Teresa Morgan of Springfield, Missouri, and best friend and brother – Jim (Sue) Bard of South Haven.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at the Kibbie Christian Reformed Church, 00479 CR 687, South Haven, Michigan with Elder Jackie Sistrunk officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Loyd’s memory to the Morgan Family, 1076 S. Bailey Avenue, South Haven, Michigan 49090.
