Wilbur "Wib" Lynam

Wilbur “Wib” Vickrey Lynam, 95, of South Haven, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at the Countryside Nursing and Rehabilitation Community in South Haven. He was born May 26, 1921 to Wilbur and Glenna (Vickrey) Lynam in Renssealaer, Indiana.  Wilbur served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II.  Wilbur married Dorothy Westergren on January 25, 1947 and shared 68 years of marriage before her passing in 2015. Wilbur worked for Hilltop Orchards and then for South Haven’s Board of Public Utilities as a Utilities Comptroller. At one time, Wilbur was the acting city manager. He worked for the city for many years before retiring in 1987. He loved sitting on his front porch and meeting new people. Wilbur was an avid reader and loved finishing jigsaw puzzles. He was a member of the First Congregational Church in South Haven and the South Haven Rotary Club where he was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow.

He is preceded in death along with his parents and wife by a grandson – Alex Lynam and sister – Dorothy Stevens.

Wilbur is survived by his children – David (Janet) Lynam of South Haven and Ken (Nancy) Lynam of Dunedin, Florida, grandchildren – Eric, Jaime, and Jessica (Andrew Cifaldi) Lynam, and five great grandchildren – Aiden Lynam, Tyus and Laina Panek, and Xander and Remy Cifaldi.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, February 13, 2017 at the funeral home with Rev. Jeffrey S. Dick officiating. Wilbur will be laid to rest in Lakeview Cemetery.
