Nelson J Geisler

Nelson J Geisler, 77, of South Haven, Michigan passed away Thursday, April 20, 2017. He was born December 16, 1939 to Nelson and Ruth (Manthe) Geisler in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Nelson married Donna Quattrin on June 17, 1961. Known by many as “Butch”, he retired from the Palisades Nuclear Power Plant as the Director of Buildings and Grounds in 2001. His love for his family, children, and grandchildren was boundless and he was loved equally in return.  He cherished being with his children and grandchildren.  He also enjoyed camping on North Manitou Island (Windingo!), shopping at Menards for bargains-especially the free stuff, attending Notre Dame football games, and watching his chickens for all the life lessons and good eggs they provided. He could fix anything broken with almost nothing but a Leatherman.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years – Donna Geisler of South Haven, children – Alan (Gail) Geisler of Noblesville, Indiana; Kristyn (Daniel) Diekema of South Haven, Michigan; Juliann (Kyle) Caldwell of Rockford, Michigan; Amy (Matthew) Monte of Houghton, Michigan; and David (Jennie) Geisler of Coloma, Michigan; siblings – Donna Owen of Louisville, Kentucky and Lois Hoyt of Benton Harbor, Michigan; and 17 grandchildren who know him as Papa – Alyssa & Megan, Jesse & Kirsty, Danika, Ryker, Callen, Brennan, Emma, Zac, Nelson, Kyla, Logan, Camdon, Devin, Ella, and Brayden.

The family will be holding a private gathering at a future date and would prefer not to receive gifts or flowers.
