Ted's Obituary

Ted Jones
February 3, 1949 ~ July 5, 2017

A man’s journey ended far too soon for Ted Jones at the age of 68 after an eight year battle with lymphoma cancer. Ted Brunson Jones was born on February 3, 1949 to Merton and Molly Jones in South Haven, Michigan. He attended South Haven Public Schools where he was active in track and graduated with the Class of 1967.  After graduating from high school, Ted attended college.

Ted’s father, Merton Jones, owned and operated E-Jay Thermal where Ted worked closely with his father. This gave Ted the motivation to go out and pursue a career on his own. He worked at Palisades Nuclear Power Plant for 28 years as a control room operator then as  an electrician.  Ted was a volunteer firefighter for SHAES.  Ted’s dream in life was to own and operate a marina which came true in 1986 when he designed and built Summerplace Moorings.  He eventually grew the 16 slip marina into 28 slips.

Ted is survived by his wife of twenty-five years, Elaine, children, Stacy (Heather) Jones, Heather (Michael)  DiCosola, grandchildren – Siera Jones, Matthew, Sophia, Molly, Daniel, and Joseph DiCosola, sisters, Penny (Don Plumb) Berg and Sue (Jim) Eldridge, brother, Seth Jones, former spouse Betty (Tom) Bongiorno, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.

Ted enjoyed spending time with family and friends telling jokes and being outdoors. He loved people, shooting skeet/trap, and scuba diving. One of his favorite things to do was ride around town in his red Jeep with his faithful canine companion Riley.

Ted was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
