Elizabeth's Obituary
Elizabeth Ann Davis Miller 85 died Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 28, 1932 to Gertrude Yerkes Baker Davis and George Hawks Davis. Her father’s job took the family to Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Jacksonville, Florida: St. Louis, Missouri: Scarsdale, New York; and finally Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania in July 1941. She went to the University of Michigan in 1950 and there she met her future husband George Miller. They were married in 1954 and moved to Wayne, Michigan where she taught elementary classes until 1960.
In 1964 they moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan where she taught at Kalamazoo Valley Community College from 1974 until she retired in 1994.
She is survived by her husband, George, and her four children and their families. Andy (Susan) and their children Kate and Evan; Earl (Leng); Jim (Jeni) and their children Noah and Jackson; and Charlotte (Judy).
Moving to South Haven in 1990 she found a large variety of fun and exciting activities: Our Town Players. The Art Center, Al-Van Humane Society and the American Association of University Women. Twenty-five busy years of gardening, cooking, and taking trips followed.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 11, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will follow at 2:00 PM at the funeral home with Paul Layendecker officiating. Come and share memories of fun times and good memories. Elizabeth will be placed in Lakeview Cemetery in South Haven. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Al-Van Humane Society or to the AAUW Scholarship Fund.
