Brian Keith Barker

Brian Keith Barker, 56, of South Haven, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2018 at the Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. He was born May 18, 1961 in Chicago, Illinois to Clyde and Louise Barker. Brian was the youngest of three children. He accepted Christ at an early age under the direction of Rev. Juanita Massey, affectionately known as “Granny”. Brian entered Job Corp his sophomore year of high school. After returning, he worked as an armored truck driver. He met Lorraine Wilson and from that union, Kristen & Kristopher were born. Brian moved to South Haven, Michigan and met his love, Ruby Smith. While in South Haven, he worked at Consumers Concrete.

Brian is survived by his children – Kristen Barker and Kristopher Jackson both of Chicago, His step-children Jeremiah Smith of Kala- mazoo, Lee (Danielle) Smith & Rochelle Davis of Grand Rapids, Lucius (Cora Thomas) Smith, V, Catherine Smith, Ruben Smith, Antoinette Perry, & Kenneth Calhoun, Jr. of South Haven, his love Ruby Smith, siblings – Evelyn (Joseph) Nelson & Denise (Johnny) Turner of Chicago, grandson – Norkaylen Jackson, 18 step-grandchildren & great grandchildren four nieces; LaNeesha (Kevin) Giiven, Brandi, Tatiana, & Latryse, two nephews; Brian C. (Renee) Barker & Anthony, four great nieces & nephews. The mother of his children Lorraine Wilson & the Wilson Family. His best friends Larry Johnson, Leonard Brunt & Mark Lewis.

Wake will be held from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Friday, January 12, 2018 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven. Funeral services will follow the wake at 2:00 PM with Evangelist RuthAnn Preston officiating.
