What an incredible loss! Joan was a lit up every room she walked into. She will be missed by many including Senior Services. Joan spent so many hours decorating and making it a special place for all. Thank you Joan, you are loved!

It isn't very often that you meet someone and then, two months later, their passing blows you away. It says it all.

Joan was a great friend, I worked with her at Upjohn, we had lunch a lot and she gave me a bridal shower right before she married Don. She invited me to see her in a play at Portage Senior Center recently. Sad news and condolences to her family.

I remember Joan when she worked in Bldg. 190 at the Upjohn Farms. A very personable gal and well liked by every one that knew her. She will be missed by many and will make a beautiful Angel in heaven. Thoughts and Prayers to her family. Marilyn Metty

I have so many fond memories of Joan through church and high school. We shared Luther League, proms and just plain good old fashioned fun. RIP dear friend.

She honored life by living it every day. She was a sparkly girl from her silver jewelry to her non stop smile. She was a friend to both old and new. "How about happy," she'd say. That meant meeting friends at Tello's for Happy Hour. Food, something liquid and sharing and a hug goodbye. I think she was happiest when she was creative. The Senior Center usually benefited from center pieces, to Christmas trees and wreaths and acting in Reader's Theater. She'd often stop by Monroe Blvd where I was parked looking at the lake, having a cup of coffee. We'd roll down windows and have a morning chat and remark on the every changing moods of the lake which we both loved. Then she'd be off, one of her projects needed attention. I'd finish my coffee and head for a walk by the lake. Each morning when I see a red car like hers, I momentarily think it's hers. You left too early, dear friend. Joan Wendland

Joan you were such a special person. You became one of my Moms best friends when she had moved to South Haven 15 yrs ago. Exercise and lunch at the Golden Brown 3x a week, with my Mom, Bonnie and Jeanette. I enjoyed hearing about your kids and grandchildren. Along with all the events and sports you attended for your grandchildren My Mom, Joan Roth past away April 14 2018. You visited my Mom in her darkest moments last year. My Mom was so grateful. You were my second Mom. Always a phone call away. I will miss that so much. We always laughed that you and my Mom had the same names, along with daughters name, Jill. I remember getting texts for your Jill. Laughing you texting the wrong Jill again. I will miss you so much, but knowing you and Mom will be seeing each again gives me much comfort. I am so bless to have know you. I miss you so much. Love Jill

Joan was a friend to Scott Club! Her wonderful flower arrangements and exuberant nature made her a pleasure to meet and greet. We are saddened at our loss.
