I was sad to hear that Vern died. I knew Vern from the First Methodist Church in Lansing. Then we learned that he and Pat had a cottage on Osterhout Lake when we bought in 1980. Thoughts and prayers are sent to his family. Judy Meyer

As treasurer of Lee Township, Allegan County I recall the many conversations Mr Long and I had prior to his moving from the area. He was a very caring and dedicated person.

We are so sorry to hear about your loss. Steve and I bought your dad’s cottage back in 2005. He was a remarkable man! Very proud of everything he did at that place. He showed us around with such pride and joy! We still,to this day, continue to do our own major upkeep’s without hiring out. And yes, his pride and joy, the fish pond,is still there today and thriving! I am so sorry for your loss. We are keeping you in our prayers, Steve and Stacey Stepanek

We are sorry to learn of Vern's death. He was my first cousin, his mother and my mother were sisters. He is 15 years older than me. I have fond remembrances of him visiting us on my parents farm in Iola, WI when I was a child. He loved his cars! I also have great memories of visiting his parents in Chicago Heights when I was young. "Junior" took me on a great tour of the Ford plant where he and his dad worked. As a child all I ever heard him called was "junior," I thought that was his name. Just a few years ago my wife Stacey and I were able to visit him at his home in South Haven, MI and went out to lunch. I do not have contact information for his children, Charles, Edward and Barbara and would love to hear from them. Dave Aronson
