Doug was a brilliant man with a mind set he could do anything and would fulfill a promise made. Doug was an excellent brick layer and laid every single brick for the crawl space of my home for absolutely not a dime. He was my brother in law at the time and later he laid the bricks for my well pit in my garage. His work was outstanding, and with a professional pride in the appearance of his efforts when completed. Doug and Dee both took my second wife into there home in Kalamazoo while I lay in a hospital bed following a major heart attack and showed her love and compassion, encouraging her to believe during her time of not knowing if I would make it or not or how I would come out of the situation. I will always remember and have full respect for both Doug and Dee's hospitality to her. The visits every year possible if in the area, Doug would stop by and gather as many vegetables from my veggie stand and gardens as he could get and though I said they were on the house he would always sneak a few bills in my money jar when I wasnt looking. Im going to miss you brother but your memories and experience shared will live on in my heart and in helping others for as long as I live and m able to teach others what you shared with me. Dee, I love you for never giving up through the times with Doug's health nomatter how bad they got. Thankyou, he truly loved you with everything in him.

So sorry to lose Doug. He had a few medical problems that he beat. He was very close to my brother, Eddie Heinze.. Just lost another cousin to brain cancer. My thoughts and prayers are with his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Doug was introduced to me through friends in the mid 80s and through the years kept in touch and visited as we passed each other throughout jobs within our industry. He was a force to be reckoned with and when we did meet up we had many laughs as we reminisced about the past follies. We spoke earlier this year and tried to make a gathering work but circumstances didn't allow it. You will be greatly missed my friend may you have a tailwind and blue skies ahead.

Several of us hung out during high school, attending dances, bonfires and summer parties. Doug and Nick were the best friends a girl could have. He will be missed for his sunny disposition and infectious laugh--So sorry for you loss.
