Correction on my message to Steven! Ellen's last name is Fry and not Elder! Elder is the last name of my daughter! What do you want from a 75 year old coot who remembers what happened 70 years ago, but not what happened yesterday? I could just hear Steven laughing at that one! I hope so because I know he would appreciate one last blunder of mine!

I just heard the news about Steven! Although I haven't seen him in years I could never forget him, his brother Burton, and his sister Karen! Nor could I forget his parents, Tobie and Sam! I was married (now divorced) from Steven's cousin Ellen Terry Shwartz Elder. We used to get together with Steven and his whole family a lot and there weren't any relatives of my ex that I loved more than that whole family! Steven and I hit it off immediately upon meeting foe the first time back in 1965 when I began dating Ellen! We had a lot in common as far as sense of humor, toughness, athleticism, and disposition! I have missed him and his family for so many years, although I did visit with his sister Karen in N.Y. some years ago, as well as visiting Sam And Tobie in Chicago shortly before Tobie passed away. Not long after that Sam passes away! I loved him and Tobie like they were my own parent's and I know that they felt love for me as well. I know that Sam once told my father that he had wished that his daughter Karen and I had gotten married! I can say it now that I felt the same way! My sincere condolences to his wife Debbie, sister Karen, and brother Burton and the rest of the family that I never met, such as the children of the sibling's! What a great loss of a great guy! What else could he be coming from a family like the Ehrlick's, a family I thought of as my own! God bless Steven and may he live in everlasting peace!

We are so sad that all of us are losing the laughter and fun that came with knowing Steve. He was one of the most friendly and kind people we know. Debbie, we are sorry for you and your family.

Condolences to Debbie and the entire Ehrlich family. “Sam” as those who knew him when we were growing up in grade & high school, was a wonderful friend, considerate, and a very fun loving person! I met him in 1st grade at Robert Emmet grammar school in Chicago and attended Austin High school with “Sam”. We remained friends but saw little of each other since 1965. We lost touch until recent years and then reconnected and saw each other occasionally but spoke often. We still had the same friendship and likes from being together through our school years! I will miss him dearly and think of him often. He was a special person from a special family.

My condolences to the entire Erlich family. I knew Steven and his family from the old neighborhood (Austin). His father sold me my first car and our parents were very friendly.

Dearest Debbie, I am so very sorry for you and the whole family’s loss of such a wonderful man! He always brought a smile to my face. Always the Mensch, helping me whenever he could sneak into the kitchen! How I miss those days and his grin!
