A dear, sweet, loving, ethical man who was a wonderful neighbor and added much joy to the life of those he touched in such a positive way. Tom knew how to love, and that love was returned ten-fold. It is with sadness I say good-bye, but know he continues to make the world a better place even through his death. Much love to the family and especially to Lynn.

Tom was a gentleman in the truest meaning of that word. He was always kind and considerate of others. Even in death he is helping people by donating his body to medical research. It would be hard to locate a finer person than Tom. His grandchildren are fortunate to have such a wonderful role model. He loved his country, his family, and Lynn.

What a good friend you were. We will just have memories now, but good ones. You deserve a good rest after all of the accomplishments and love you gave in your life.

Without that grin of his, this world will be lacking. In those quiet moments as I look out the window and close my eyes to the setting sun, I am thinking of you, Lynn. I know you will make it through this because you possess all those qualities that made him fall in love with you, but I wish I could slip my hand into yours and give it a squeeze so that you'd know that I am here.

Like so many others, I have lost a good friend. Tom was very special to me. We enjoyed our times together. Wish we could have had many more opportunities to share. As time goes on, we will reflect upon all the warm thoughts that Tom gave to all of us. Lots of hugs to Lynn.

Mr. Guerne was an excellent math teacher in the Kalamazoo Public Schools. It has been years since I graduated, and there are only a few teachers who stand out in my mind, but Mr. Guerne was definitely one of the best.

Grandpa Guerne, We will miss you, but we know that you are in a better place and are not hurting anymore. We enjoyed getting letters from you will local fishing for Jon to enjoy and we were happy that you loved to hear Jon's exciting fishing stories, as well as silly stories about that crazy dog of ours. We can never remember not seeing a smile on your face and a twinkle in your eye. You were a wonderful grandpa and great grandpa! Love, Angie, Jon, Emma, and Ethan

Tom has always been someone we have looked forward to seeing as well as conversing with. His stories of life and information from reading made us attentive to every word. Sometimes I ( Diane) thought he'd have done well at a Maine general store, sitting around a potbelly stove handing out tales! His devotion to Lynn could make any woman envious -- wishing for that care. His love of his sister and brothers, his three daughters and their families came through each telephone conversation. And that man who claimed to be getting older, looked younger at each visit! How helpful he was to those older and younger who needed a ride or other help. Oh, Lynn, remember when you two visited and he wore the towel across his face as we zoomed along? It makes us smile to think of him. How fortunate you, Lynn, and all his family are to have many more memories!

Mr. Guerne was one of the best math teachers ever. His enthusiasm was a great inspiration to me, and I remember his class fondly. Rest in Peace, Mr. Guerne.

I'm very saddened to learn of your loss. Mr. Guerne was a wonderful teacher to me (and my brothers) and later became a wonderful friend to my parents there in South Haven at the Legend Theater. He will be fondly remembered and sadly missed. Best wishes to you. Jim Bonevich Loy Norrix High School Class of 1980
