George and I enjoyed lambasting each other with outrageous puns. I recall the many family reunions when he and his parents came to Toronto and later when he and Donna were living in South Haven, and then not so long ago when he and Betty were together. He will always be remembered for being a gracious host, a good friend and for his good humour.

May George rest in peace after the years of poor health. And may Betty experience peace and find strength and support from the Chapman and Fennel families. Sorry I cannot be there to share my thoughts in person and enjoy memories of times we have shared. A special thanks to Steve (our "second son") for keeping us informed. Bob will be coming down from Traverse City.

I consider Uncle George as the patriarch of our family. My mother (his sister who preceded him in death) was 4 years older than him. I remember her telling me that she was 12 and he 8 when their sister Joyce was born. They were 3 sibs forever after in my mind and all my childhood memories. As the oldest living cousin I am proud to have had so many opportunities to interact with Uncle George and Aunt Donna and Betty as well. Uncle George had a wonderful sense of humor, interlaced with his grace while mentoring all of us. He taught us all that family is the most important thing after God and he truly lived that every day. We will miss you, Uncle George, so much. Love from, Judy with Darrell and family

Our sincerest sympathies to your family. We remember George fondly for his sweet corn cooking abilities at the "Ade Parades", and of course, his quick wit. We know you will all miss him.

I'm sad to say goodbye to your dad, Kath. He was part of my growing up too. Like when we'd peek in to see if he was sitting in his chair in the den! Then quietly we'd tiptoe by!!! He had such a presence and authority about him that I truly respected! I'm sorry for your family's time of grief, but know he's well now, in no pain and back in "his chair".

George was my first accounting supervisor and he was the one who talked me into being on the Maritime Museum Board, back when it was in 7 pieces. I bought my current house from his wife Donna. I can honestly say that his help got me where I am, today. I wouldn't have gone for my Masters Degree, so I wouldn't have had my own accounting firm. So, I wouldn't have gotten elected as county commissioner. And I wouldn't berunning for State Rep, now.

My deepest sympathy to all the family and I know George must be at peace now. Not only was he "blood" but he like his Cousin John served "sans reproche". He was the senior member of the three of us and that leaves me in that spot now. So Long Comrade and peace and comfort to you until we meet again in that Great Parade Grounds of our Heavenly Father & C-I-C.

Rich and Family, Because I've been so out of touch with everything while working nights for the outage, I had no knowledge of your father's passing. I'm very sorry to learn of your loss. He was fun to be around (even though he always made fun of my hat) and will be missed. Our thoughts are with you at this time... Mark & Suzy Seiler

Betty: I was there when you had some happy memories and the marriage. I know how you and George went through the last years of his life, and while I wasn't as much of a support system for you, I understand what you went through. I hope God graces you with some peace and life beyond this loneliness. Love, Jacqui

Chapman Family: I am sorry for your loss. George was a nice person to work with at city hall. Every Christmas, he bought us corsages to wear at work and we always got compliments on the corsage. George was so proud of his family and talked about the golfing pro in the family, Steven. May you be blessed of the LORD and take one day at a time in your healing process.
