I was so sorry to see that Charlie passed away. He was such a nice, considerate and smart man. I worked at my parent's concession stand, out at South Haven State Park. I knew Charlie real well, back then. He will be missed, I am sure. My thoughts and prayers are going out to his whole family.

Dear Barnes family, So sorry to hear of Mr. Barnes(as I always knew him). He was one of my teachers in school many years ago in South Haven. I always liked him, he had a kind spirit. I am hopeful that I will be able to see him again in heaven one day. May God comfort and give you strength in the days ahead. I know what it is like to lose a parent! It's not easy but with God's help and strength it will get better.

Mr. Barnes was a great teacher. He was so patient and helpful. I always looked forward to his class. And it was great to visit him at the state park in the summertime. I know he will be missed and his family is in my prayers.

Uncle Chuck always had such a cheerful outlook. I will remember that he had a way of making even the smallest of family members feel special. We rejoice that his healing is now complete.

I,m Chucks older sister,by 10 years. When he was a baby it was my job to care for him when my parents were busy. Chuck was always a happy boy. Chuck helped me out, too, when I needed it. He was generous and a kind person. Chuck enjoyed his music, and art.

I am sorry to hear about Uncle Chuck's passing, but am happy to know his suffering has come to an end. When I think of Uncle Chuck, I remember him as a man who spent a great deal of his life as a suffering servant. He lived and served as a witness to God's goodness, even after the stroke. He never had a negative word to say and always thought of others first. When I heard of Uncle Chuck's death, my thought's went to what he must be experiencing now. He has been reunited with his parents, Glenn and Margaret Barnes and most importantly living in paradise where he will never suffer again.

Jennifer and Jason, I was very sad to hear of the passing of your dad. I worked with him for 17 years at the park. We had a lot of great times together there. No matter what was happening, he managed to deal with it in an upbeat manner. He was very kind and always went out of his way to help others. We are very sorry for your loss. Jeff and Kathy Lamphier

Jason and Jen, I know this is a very difficult time for you both. Please take comfort in the fact that your dad is experiencing new found mobility, peace, and happiness. Your dad's stroke 20 years ago thrust both of you into adulthood and I commend you for seeing that he has been taken care of. Knowing that you were there for your dad will bring you both comfort in the future; a life without regret. Love, Shane Blair

We were very sad to hear of Chuck's passing. For health reasons, Chuck spent his summers here in Brimley and we became best of friends. Summers were spent flying model planes, playing baseball and swimming. Chuck's faith in Jesus Christ is his true legacy. He never stopped believing even when the burdens seemed insurmountable. His music spoke to many, and he will be lovingly remembered.

Jen and Jason Please know Judy and my prayers are with you. For sure your Dad is with the Lord right now because of his faith. He had such a kind heart. I have many fond memoires with your Dad. He and I use to go around town and the surrounding area and knock on random doors and share our testemonies with whoever would listen about how God would accept anyone into eternity with him, if they only accepted the love gift of his Son. Your Dad was such an encourager. He had a way of always teaching me to face each day by surrendering to God and trying not to live by my own strength. Having spent time with your Dad in prayer, trust me when I say with many tears he daily ushered each of you before God. Did you know the closest I ever came to getting spanked by a teacher was by your Dad back in 69-70 in Art Class? He never spanked me, although I had it coming. He taught me a lesson in Grace. He had the paddle in hand with me already crying and then he said “don’t ever do it again”. From now on, until I meet your Dad again in heaven, I’ll will always remember around Easter time those times together.

Chuck & I graduated from high school together, but my main memories of him date from the many Sunday mornings in the First Baptist Church in Sault Ste Marie with our families and of Sunday school classes together. Our paths diverged after those early days, but he was a nice young man then and the tributes here speak highly of his entire life.

Chuck was a real example to me when we both attended Calvary Baptist church doing our High Years. he passed away on my mothers birthday and I can picture them re-uniting a friendship in Heaven. I also remember him with his gautar and the good choices he made with his talents. I was always sad that he had to suffer here on earth, but he knew God was his comforter in all things. I personally have very fond memories of Chuck.... keith abd Coralie Jacobson

Mr Barnes was my art teacher at South Haven High and was by far one of my favorite teachers, mild mannered and encouraging with a good sence of humor which he needed with me. I am sorry I missed his service and hope those who loved him know about the hope of Christ and the promise of tomorrow.

I was very sad to hear about Chuck's passing. He gave me guitar lessons at his home in the early 1970s. We go to know each other again in the 1980s when I worked at Van Buren State Park. He was always a perfect gentleman with a ready smile.
