I was one of the lucky people to have gotten to know Joe. I have delivered his mail for over 24 years and have gotten to know that Joe was not only a kind person but a true friend. I am going to miss him. I will cherish our last conversation the day before his passing.

I worked for many years with Joe at the, Social Security Office. I am ashamed to admit I have been out of contact with him for quite some time, particularly since we moved out of the area. I do have many fond memories of Joe, and am saddened to hear of his passing. We had some good times!

I was a classmate of Joe's all thru grade school when we were students at Jericho School. We were also high school classmates and graduated with the Class of 1955. Joe was in attendance at our 50th class reunion in 2005. He was a good and loyal friend and I will miss him.

I worked with Joe from 1973 until 1981 and have fond memories of Joe - when Joe said you looked "cool", it was the ultimate compliment. He had a great sense of humor & threw some great pool parties. Although I lost contact when I moved away, I often thought of Joe and smiled. He was sure a classy guy.

I was a very young 19 year old when I first met Joe through work. I thought he was the most glamorous and exciting person I'd ever met. And he was! He helped make working fun. I remember Joe's deep voice and his laugh. I remember his beautiful home and gardens. I remember his cooking. I remember his egg nog at Christmas time; that is truly a special memory of mine. I remember his sense of style; he once helped me pick out a lamp. Joe always knew what was going on: he was the first one to tell me about Madonna. Joe was truly special.

I remember Joe in high school as a wonderful musicion and friend. He played clarinet in band with me and he and I had Mr Listiack as our Director/ teacher. He was so good and I was so-so but he always brought the best out of me and let me fake it if necessary. I am so-so sorry to hear of his passing and I send deepest sympathy to all the family. PS His brother Jim was in my late husband Art Niffenegger's class and they had been good friends also. Most Sincerely, Lila Lee Brooks Niffenegger
