Jim & Glenna, our prayers are with you. Your mom was really special. A true "lady". Enjoyed visiting with her at church, Scott Club, and stopping by Jim and Marie's table to visit a few minutes at Cousin's restaurant. Think of you often and have been thankful for the influence Jim had on our kids, Angela & Ben in school. We will continue prayers for wonderful memories of both Marie and Jim for your family.

To the entire dissette family. I am so sorry to hear that Marie (to me Mrs. Dissette) has passed. I just took my kids to her house on halloween for trick or treating. I like taking my kids back to my old neighborhood. I told my kids of certain houses that gave out lots of goodies. Mrs. Dissette was one of those. She loved seeing my kids but even before my kids she enjoyed Andreas and I with my dad walking the neighborhood. Boy what a driveway to walk for some good candy. She was always so sweet right along with her husband. So many memories on 74th and lakeridge. She sure will be missed especially next halloween. You are all in my thoughts. Sabine Barthel Callaghan

Jim, Anne, & families, Auntie Marie has always held a special place in our lives. So many memories run through my mind. Sunday dinners at Grandma's, Holiday gatherings, and trips to the farm. Her soft voice, gentle touch, strong hugs and loving smile. We've been blessed to have had her as a part of our family. May God be with you during this time and give you comfort. Beverly

My sympathy to the family of Marie who, as Miss Lauman, was my favorite teacher during my six years at the Lafler School. She encouraged me to read, and reading has been a big part of my life ever since. She took me in her car to the South Haven library on more than one occasion to check out a book. I remember her as an extremely kind young woman and am not surprised that so many who know her speak highly of her.

To the Dissette family; I have such fond memories of Mrs. Dissette as she was known to me in my young years while teaching me. She was always so sweet and I truly enjoyed her as my elementary teacher than as I grew up in the community always catching up with her over time. She has truly left a lasting legacy in South Haven with all of her community involvment and her gift of teaching. May her memories live on in the one's she taught and her family. God Bless

Dear Ann and Jim, I learned about marie's passing in Monday's tribune. Elizabeth and I are sorry we missed the visitation and the service. We spent many pleassant hourstogetherworking on both the oral history interviews of long-time South Haven residents and the publication of Ni-Ni-Fodong. When I , on occasion, introduced her it was with the words,"Marie Dissette, if there is anything about South Haven history that either she or jeanette tieve don't know, it's probably not worth knowing." She was just fun to be with. We laughed a lot, shared an enthusiasm for history but I also found heroffice to be a calming, steady influence on our discussions. One story about her you may not know. At her home one day, I noticed a one-legged wild turkey eating on the ground under her bird feeder. Marie told me she was feeding it everyday until, she hoped, it grew strong enough to survive on its own. It eventually disappeared but I will always remember Marie's turkey, patiently hopping on one leg around the yard. The oral history projects came to an end shortly after Jim dies. (I also got to know and like him very much.) So, I hadn't seen her very often in recent years. I wish now that I had. I will miss her. George Miller

Jim I just found out about the passing of your mother what a wonderful women, I recently lost my own mother and know how hard it is, my hope is found in 1st peter 1-9 about the hope that waits for us that cannot fade away but is reserved in heaven for us by the power of the living God the same power that his word tells us makes the sun to rise daily and all things to be set in motion and controled by his hand.I hope you have a wonderful holiday and can be at peace with her joining our maker, the bible says to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.God Bless You!
