I just wanted to say how sorry I am. Ken was a wonderful person, probably the nicest guy I have ever met. I worked in the office that was upstairs from his, and for the past 2.5 years I've talked to him almost everyday. He always had a smile on his face, and he always put one on mine. Two days before he passed, my car died in the back parking lot, and I knew I could go to Ken. Sure enough, he jumped my car. I am going to miss him very much. It will never be the same to walk down the stairs and not see his smiling face standing the the doorway next door. Take care and I am very sorry for your loss. -Amber Martine

Jean & Harold & Family. So sorry to hear of your lost. While here in Florida, I check this website fairly often and was shocked to read of Ken's death. Wish we could be there to support you. Jean, you do have my regular email address but this one is the only one I give out to the public. We didn't know Ken but the chats we have had in your computer room makes it seem like we knew him. Our prayers are with you & we'll see you in March. I will email Karen and let her know, too. Love, Judy & Andy

Ken is a very good friend of mine always a soft-spoken person, had many good times singing in choir with him. In addition, i have many fond memories of play's especially 1776 where Ken played the part of Scooter Baxter which my mother always refered to Ken, as she was very fond of Ken also. You are committed to my mind, and heart as long as i live and will truly miss my good friend Ken Veenstra.

Dear Family, You have our deepest sympathy on the loss of Ken. Our office is directly above where Ken worked and at least one of us would see him every day, Monday thru Friday, as we would come and go throughout the work week. Ken always had a smile on his face - ALWAYS. And he always had a pleasant word to speak. When Bovo's business first moved beneath our office, we could smell the cigaret smoke coming up through the vents. We talked to everyone downstairs and asked if they could step outside to smoke because some of our staff members had allergies. The first time I saw Ken smoking OUTSIDE the building I got so excited (since I was the one with the allergies) so I went home and got a thank you card and sent it to him. He got a kick out of that. Really, he didn't have to be bothered with stepping outside but he was willing to do that to help me out - and still with that smile on his face. Just last week Monday (the 5th) our co-op worker forgot to turn her car lights off so when she went to run errands her battery was dead. She didn't hesitate to ask Ken for help and he didn't hesitate to come to her rescue even in the snow storm. They laughed and talked while he helped her out and got her back on the road. That's just a little bit of what we know about Ken. Always pleasant. Always smiling. Always willing to give a helping hand. We will miss seeing our friend there at the doorway greeting us as we come and go. May God comfort you as only He can in the days ahead. Our prayers are with you. I am saddened by the news of Ken's passing. I have very fond memories of Ken, being a classmate, being in band and Chior. Traveling to Vienna in 1974. I have a favorite picture of Ken, standing with Larry White and Jimmie Wilkins on a hill in Austria singing. May he rest in peace.

I came to the church Monday hoping to express my condolences in person but the family wasn't available before the service and I could not stay because of my work. I am so sorry about Ken. Even though we were a few years apart in school he was a great person to be around. We spent some time together in choir and I had limited association with him after we were out of school. I will keep your entire family in my prayers.

My prayers go out to Kenneth's family in this, their time of grieving. I was in South Haven on Feb. 12 myself for the services of my mother who passed away on Feb. 5. In remembering the many times we shared as young men during high school, it saddens me that Ken and I did not keep in touch afterwards and therefore I have now permanently lost the opportunity to have known him as a grown man. My heartfelt condolences to all who will miss him.

There are no words that can express my feelings of your loss. Ken was my friend, and college roomate. He was an incredibly intelligent, quick witted individual. I remember during WMU days watching the Lions with him, and we would both be disgusted. Ken could also do "superhuman" things...carry incrdible weights, do math problems that others required calculators to do, and sing in an incredible baritone voice that could make you appreciate German opera. I had not seen Kenny in many moons, but thought of him frequently. His passing is an event in my life that will never be forgotten by me. His participation in my life, and the gang that we "hung out with" is, and will always be a very cherished moment in my existance. Otto family...my thoughts and prayers are with you. I share in your grief. May the Lord Bless you, and keep you. Thank you for the times I spent with you, and your many kindnesses to me, and sharing your family. As Always, Leroy.

I am sorry for your loss. Working at the jail, I saw and spoke to Ken on a daily basis. He was always had a smile on his face, and was great to work with. So Ken, may you rest in peace, and I know you will have season tickets with a front row seat to all the U of M games now.
