Dale was a great support during my first year in CAP. Many phone calls were made and he always had time to share with me on what I could do to be a better leader in the program. His advice, understanding, patience, kindness, and love were evident with those he worked with. Dale you will be missed. --Paul Romans 8:18, we are destined for Glory.

Dale and Ty: How does one say goodbye to one who has been such a mentor and friend over the years? You were my first contact with CAP and the main reason that I stuck with this service to our Country. You were always there for advice, both professional and personal and rank had no meaning between us. I miss you already, because you had a large part in making me the Officer and person I am today. Go In Peace my Brother. KEITH

Ty, I am SO sorry, I can't believe he didn't beat this. I really thought we would get to see you both this next couple weeks when you came over to this side of the state. I wish we had made it over there. I will miss him so much. You know Dale was the first true expierence with ES that I actually had. You guys and that vehicle (orange) in Holland when I came over on the Hyson mission. I remember going back to mission base and they asked who there was on that side of the state that they could call and feel comfortable with using and I popped right up and said "THE CHADDOCKS". It was from then on the BEST of the ES personnel was the Chaddocks and Dave Cotton. The East and the West and they are the BEST! Ty, I know you are strong and will make it although I too know Dale is your solemate it the full definition. I can't imagine Dale not being there. I feel bad that I haven't been there for you, I should have stopped my life and taken the time to get over there. WE LOVE YOU!!! I will call you in the next few days when things have slowed down a little bit. And one way or the other Ken and I will get to your side of the state to visit and we will sit with our feet up sipping a drink on that beach and share memories. If you need to talk call me anytime! Day or night. I have been there where you are. I still remember the pain and share those same feelings of loss of my solemate. Don't forget WE LOVE YOU both and Dale will always be at the front of our memories! Love you, Carol & Ken

How does one say goodbye to a leader, a mentor and a father? By Father I mean someone that helped raise me from the single diget years to present. You were there when I needed you most, whether it meant punishment for moving at attention or to my Wedding back in 2004. You were a leader in everything you touched. You taught me to be patient with people, you taught me how to lead as well as follow. You taught me how to be dropped off in the middle of the Allegan woods and find my way back to Camp in better shape than I left. Sir, you will be missed, but NEVER Forgotten. Thy, please make note that Dale's project will not go unfinished, It WILL get done..! I Love you both and please don't hesitate to chirp Ash or I up..

I will always remember Maj Chaddock as the one GTL that put a DF in my hands and made me think. He never gave me the answer as to how to find our target or if I was doing something wrong, only to think and ask myself the same questions he always asked. Every mission I had gone to these last several months I always looked for him, and wondered throughout the mission and after why he couldn't join us. He had once told me he didn't want to miss fishing or hunting, so everytime I missed him at a mission, I just imagined that was where he was. Even now. He will always be one of my dearest mentors and one of the main reasons I stuck with becoming a ground team leader. Every mission I go on, every time I lead a team, every time I encourage a cadet to begin training to be a GTL, I will think of him and how much he influenced my life. As I missed him before, I shall miss him still. And a place for his spirit, his dedication, his devotion, and his love of the field will always be saved on my ground team. -Little Miss Gorman

I've known Dale for many years. We were a couple of sidekicks, but I more/less looked to him as a brother that was about my own age. He was Scoutmaster of Troop 199 and I was his Assistant till he left scouting to be involved in Civil Air Patrol. I can remember one time during a Klondike at the Paw Paw Sportsman Club, Dale and I set the leaders tent up by layering newspapers and straw down first before putting down the floorof the tent. We told the boys, that were to busy playing around, to cover the fire wood to protect it from the elements, they didn't and the next morning it poured rain. The kids came to our tent complaining that they couldn't get a fire started. So Dale and I got out of our "warm" bed rolls to start a fire for them. Some of the kids wanted to use gasoline to start the fire, but Dale showed them a quick and easy way of starting it with wet wood. He instucted them, with some of them holding a tarp over us and the fire bowl. The two of us were splitting the logs beneath the tarp as Dale explained, "I'm only going to show you once!" "The wood maybe wet on the outside, but it's dry on the inside." Dale and I split kindling from inside the logs; Got a roaring fire going with one match, put the other logs around the fire to dry them out and told the guys to make breakfast and to wake us up when it's done. Oh yes, during the time we were building the fire, the rain started letting up. Our troop got an award on that outing for having the only fire lit and roaring throughout the whole Koldike that morning. Dale showed me / us a lot of things about being out in the wilderness. Dale was a leader, not a follower. He pushed each of us to our breaking points and he never gave in. It made us a better person as we got older. The memories we have of him will be told in future generations. His legacy will stay with us for years to come. He reminds me of a "Grizzly Adams" sort of person! We resighted a closing at every Scout meeting that went like this: "Now may the great Scoutmaster of all great Scouts, be with us till we meet again. And may he lead us, on the trail that lead to him; Good night all". May his spirit be with us........ Shalom

I was a CAP cadet back in 2003 when I met Maj Chaddock. He seemed larger than life to me. Words can not express how much he ment to me, as a friend and mentor. It was like he knew what I was thinking before I did. Every time I went on a practice mission or a real mission with him and Mrs. Maj Chaddock I know it was going to be a good time and that I was going to learn a lot. The last time I saw him he and the Mrs Maj Chaddock followed me home to make sure My car would make it. We ended up having a good long conversation about life and CAP.. While Miss Maj Chddock talked to my mother. When they left that day I found my self thinking of my grandpa who died when I was about 5.. I will always treasure the time I got to spend with Mr. Maj Chaddock. I am sorry for your loss he was and will always be a grate man.
