I worked with Randy for 20 of his 27 yrs at DSM and served on several committees with him. He was always in a great mood and added much to the discussions. He will be greatly missed around town.

From Randy's cousins (Al and Sara Gumpert) When we envision a memory of Randy, we see a funny, friendly person with huge smile on his face and a twinkle in his eyes! Gail, we attended your wedding reception at the Country Club and had such a nice time. We feel honored and privileged to have shared that special day with you and Randy. Our thoughts and prayers are with Gail, Tessa, Eleanor, Patty and her family, and Christi and her family in this time of sorrow.

I too worked for dsm for 7 years until 3 years ago. I will miss those phone calls before you talk to my husband about a process. Randy knew how to make a person laugh even if they were having a bad day. Will never forget all the fun we had working together at DSM. (the good ole days). He loved teasing my husband. Oh the memories Randy. Secret squirrel and I will truly miss you. Thanks for the laughs Brendan and Sabine Callaghan

I worked with Randy for over 10 yrs. at DSM. The thing I remember most about Randy was that no matter what was going on or whatever kind of day you were having, Randy made you laugh. :) He was always telling a joke or just doing something funny. I will miss him & wish that I could be there to be with my friends at this most difficult time.

As I think back over the past twenty two years that I had the honor of working with and hanging out with Randy,There was never a time when he would enter a room that the big smile on his face and his roaring laughter would liven up the place no matter what the mood was! Gail ,Tessa and the rest of the Gumpert family My sincere and deepest thoughts are with you at this time of such a great loss!

If being at work could be fun it was all because of the joy and laughter that Randy always had in him. What a gift Randy gave to all of us that had the pleasure of knowing him and having our lives touched by his wonderful soul. Randy, thank you for what you brought to my life and so many others.

My husband John and I worked with Randy at Wyckoff/DSM for nearly 10 years. The plant will be so different without him and he will be deeply missed. He was a great, fun-loving guy. Now his personality shines in a much better place. Our deepest sympathy to Gail, Tessa, and the entire Gumpert family on this terrible loss. I hope that everyone's memories of Randy will comfort them and that God's promises (and time) will heal their hearts.

Randy provided a solid foundation for all of us here at work. He cared for all of us, and I thank him for the more than 18 years we shared together. I am a better person because of him. Randy bragged about his daughter "Tessa" every time we had a chance to visit and share our families. I would have to say he was a proud father. Randy allowed yesterday to be, yesterday. He did not hold a grudge and was the first one to let go of the past. I am reminded of sweet words from --Edith Wharton-- There are two ways of spreading light, to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it." I believe Randy did both. He shared in your joy, and spread his own passion for life. Randy was an ordinary person with an extraordinary zeal for life. His infectious smile and loud laughter will resonate deep within me for many years to come. There were no filters on the lens of life for Randy. His life was captured pretty much as it happened. Honest to the core, and sincere in his journey. I will remember you my friend in the stillness of the morning, with dew on the grass, and in the gentle flow of my very own life. I wish for you a peaceful eternity, LeRoy

I'm proud to say that Randy and I were good friends. We shared a countless number of fun times together. Although we kept the vast majority of our conversations light and good-humored, I knew that if I had a problem, he would offer a sympathetic ear. If I was feeling down, he would do his best to cheer me up. Randy had a kind heart and a jovial spirit. I'll miss him more than I can say.

I had the priveledge to not only work for Randy but with him. He taught me abought people and how loyalty and compassion were important in leading people. Randy stood by all of us both at work and in our personal lives. His laughter and positive attitude carried a lot of us through tough times. I am proud to have been able to call him my Friend.

I had the honor to work with Randy for 7 yrs at DSM. I will surely miss him and all the memories that he created for me. Randy would do anything for anyone. Whether it be a small job or something dangerous, he would do it. I will always remember Randy for his hard work ethic, the conversations we had and his devotion to Tessa, and spending time with her. I know that one day we will meet again my friend, and share another laugh with angels at our side.

It has been many years since I last saw Randy but after reading all the testimonials..one thing is for sure, he was still the same great person I knew many, many years ago. It's hard to understand why a life would be cut so short but God has a plan for all of us and even though nothing makes sense at this time...I for one will try to make my world a better place for all the people in my life that are dear to my heart. It is clear to me that is how Randy lived his short life. May Randy's family and friends find peace in all the lives he has touched.

I was able to enjoy seven years of working with Randy at DSM. He would always tell me wonderful stories about Tessa, and listen to all my stories about my two girls. You could just tell that he loved being a Dad more than anything. Andy and I were watching our Wedding video the other day and through out the entire reception you could hear Randy laughing. Randy just had one of those laughs that you couldn't mistake. He loved laughing and he enjoyed life so much. He will be missed by a lot of people. He brightened so many people's lives. I'm going to miss him teasing me about Andy, we both really enjoyed being his friends. Randy, you and your family will always be in our prayers.

Dear Gumpert Family, I worked with Randy for six years and enjoyed every interaction. Randy welcomed me on my first day and was always very helpful.Additionally, his quick wit and great sense of humor was a great help when things were not going well in the plant. May God's peace be with you in this most difficult time. With deepest sympathy, Eric Oblinger

It was about 20 years ago exactly that I started working at Wyckoff right out of school. My first memory of this place was meeting Randy out in the plant. He was so full of energy and laughter that it was almost overwhelming. Randy had a way of making any conversation an event, even if it was at 3:00 in the morning. I will miss him very much.

I worked with Randy at Holly's, alongside another good friend, the late Richard Wolfert. I can still hear Randy's laugh, which always made me laugh. Randy was a hardworker, and always fun to be around. Randy played bass in a small "Holly's" band we created out of boredom one summer, along with my brother and Dan Collins. Although it has been 20 years since I moved and last saw Randy, I am very sorry to learn of his untimely death. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Dear Tess and Gail, I always used to joke with Randy, "I can't believe you're a Dad! You're so goofy." He kept a picture of Tess in his wallet and would regularly pull it out for me as proof. Tess and Gail, I am very sorry for your loss. He was always full of surprises for me. I considered him one of the personalities at DSM that made it such a wonderful place to work, and the place will not be the same without him. Neena Marion

If a person met Randy you would always remember him. Truly a person that loved life and helped others to do the same. I worked with Randy when WCC was very young, trying to be successful in a very difficult industry. Randy was the type of person that inspiried others. Randy was very competent and knowledgable. Eleanor, Kristy and Family: I am sorry I was not able to attend Randy's service. I am saddened by his passing and I pray that your family will find peace in knowing that Randy is in a better place. I have only 1 vivid memory of Randy but many more of your house and yard on Delaware Ct. I can still remember, like it was today, the time Randy and my brother Greg made the flaming hoop of fire in your yard. Once it was made, it was lit and they proceeded to jump over the ramp and over my other brother Andy! I look back now and still cannot believe what I saw. I will miss Randy and his good nature. We were all very lucky to have grown up on Delaware Ct. and The Gumpert Family and Randy were a big part of this good fortune. I grieve with you and I will keep all of you in my prayers. JON
