Diane I am so sorry to read of the passing of your mom. I always use to stop and talk when I walked my dog passed her home or would see her and we would visit at Carol Pratt's house around the corner. I am traveling to John's house this weekend and I will be sure to tell him. She was always there the 4 years he was at Hartman. My heart goes out to your family at this very difficult time in your lives.

To Gert's family,
I am so sorry to hear of your mother's passing. She was such a sweet lady. I used to work with her at Hartman School many years ago. Such a wonderful lady to work with and she really enjoyed the kids! Always had a smile on her face for everyone!

I have so many memories of Mrs Hadaway (later I was allowed to call her Gert!) She always had a smile and genuinely wanted to know how I was doing. I think my fondest memory is of her being the lunchroom supervisor at Hartman school. I never realized until much later how much it meant that she would set aside time for us to say prayer before we ate. Such a small thing but for those of us who were accustomed to saying prayer but not comfortable bowing our heads and closing our eyes in front of our peers she made it feel ok to do it. She made an impact on all those kids!!

This is a great loss to her family, friends, community, and members of Hope Church. Gert was a wonderful lady. She was great to work with, talk her, cry with and laugh with. She will be remembered with fond memories. I always loved her smile.

We sent our children through Hartman Schools. Gert used to give crackers to Jade as a toddler at the center table, while I was doing the school library. That is why Jade is addicted to peanutbutter crackers to this day! Seriously, Gert was one of the dearest, most loving and hardworking women I know. She always had a laugh and a smile. She was an angel on earth and now up in heaven. Bless you Gert for being so wonderful. We will miss you. Cynthia Laraway, Amie Holbein LLerena, Ryan Holbein and Jade Holbein Games.

What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch, we may not understand why you left this earth so soon, or why you left before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that you died, but that you lived. And that your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget.
