Laurie and Family - we were so sorry to hear about your dad. I remember him selling us fish and later he was the man to know if you wanted to get over the bridge! I still expect to see him sitting in the control box. We're keeping you all in our thoughts.

My sincerest condolences to all of Gordy's Family,
A finer man never walked God's Earth. I knew the man my whole life and always liked to run into him to chat. Either at Jensen's fish Market or with his bridge tender duties. In later years would see him at D&W, or being involved with his Grandchildren taking them to/from school. My late Father in law recalled being in the Marines in WW2 on a South Sea Island and being very homesick and seeing Gordy Marching by and they talked a bunch about both being homesick. The event cheered both of them up. He will be sorely missed by all that were blessed enough to know the him.

I have known Gordy my whole life and will miss him dearly. I used to luv going to D & W because I knew that I would run into him. He always had a smile on his face, a kind word and fantastic stories. He may be gone but he will never be forgotten.

Laurie, Gregg, Martha Sue and families, I am sorry to hear about your father passing.
I got a chance to stop and visit with him on Sunday at Countryside. I have a lot of good memories of Gordy from seeing him at the bowling alley and at Jensen's Fishery.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time.

To the entire Hoag family I send my sincerest condolences over the loss of your father. I knew Gordon through your mom Evelyn and Jensen's Fishery. He was a neat guy and he will surely be missed as the icon running the bridge for the many years that he did.

Dearest Friends Deb & Gregg,
We were so sad to hear of Gregg's father passing away. He had a wonderful life and offered so much to his family, his community, and his country. Our hearts are with you during this time of loss. No matter how old we are, it is always hard to lose a parent. Be kind to yourselves and let yourselves grieve. With time, your sorrow will be replaced by many happy memories.
Sincerely and with sympathy, Dawn and Enrique

Susie, Gregg and Laurie - So sorry to hear of your dad's passing. I can still remember him bringing us fish eggs (yuck)! My Parents loved them. It's so sad to see all of our childhood mentors passing on but we will always have such fond memories. You were lucky to have such a great dad!
Warm thoughts and wishes, Janie

We just fond out about your Dads passing! What great memories I have growing up knowing your wonderful parents. I can still picture your Moms lovely warm smile and your Dads great laugh and grin. The last couple of years I would stop and talk with your Dad when I saw him out on his walks down Superior St. He was sharp as tacks and always had a great story or memory to share. His laugh and grin was contagious. When I was young I loved going to the factory and always seeing your Mom who would get me a soda, and going to Jensenβs with my Dad and your Dad would always get me a candy bar. If he happened to have to open the bridge while we were there he would let me push buttons! Gordy was a true caring gentleman and a South Haven Legend! I am sure he is in heaven finally with the love of his life watching down over all of you! Or prayers and thoughts are with you all!
